Backlit Glass Ceiling and Walls with Opening Panels

STRUCTURAL GLASS
For the prestigious entrance hall of the 1999 K St. office building located in Washington, D.C., Murphy Jahn, Architects of Chicago, incorporated a glass ceiling and walls measuring almost 400 square meters. Each glass panel measures 1.5m by 1.5m and is hinged so as to permit the cleaning and maintenance of the lighting system. Film prints, that are unique for each glass panel, create gigantic frescoes. CPA designed the glass composition and developed the articulated support system which is assisted by hydraulic pistons.
