Steve Parent began his career at SDK in 2002. First as an engineering intern, he became a design engineer in 2006 and then an associate in 2016. Much appreciated for his ability to understand the architectural requirements and the importance of thorough project coordination, he is involved in all steps of the projects, from concept to construction phases. Eager to share his knowledge and open to new ideas, he participates in the distribution of new technical information to the whole team.

A versatile, thorough engineer, his experience includes designing numerous large-scale mandates such as high-rise buildings, hospitals, and large retail centers. In 2017, he won the award of excellence given by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction in the “Young Engineers” category for the project “Nouveau théâtre Gilles Vigneault” in St-Jérôme, a distinctive project featuring an innovative hybrid steel, concrete, and wood design. From 2018 to 2022, Steve was involved with the Montreal Structural Engineers as the president of the comitee.

A technologist in architecture with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from the École de Technologie Supérieure, he completed his education and obtained a master’s degree in construction engineering from the same establishment. He’s especially interested in earthquake-resistant structural design and wood structure design.
